RE-MAKE

RE-MAKING garments is gathering momentum. This idea was highlighted in the BRICOLAGE project several years ago and as an avid creative sewer I embrace the idea of giving new life to garments in your wardrobe/recycled textiles through transforming them. Personalising them gives a sense of satisfaction through the design and making process and because the work is individual you will never see another on the street, it will reflect something personal about you and never go out of fashion.  Switch to Green Festival 11 -12 Sept  highlighted this idea with Paula Hilyard and Lee Wallace encouraging everybody to swap clothes, re-make, embelish/deconstuct/wear inside out and totally reconsider your own wardrobe. Experimenting with wearables is more fun than shopping.  http://www.switchtogreen.unaa.org.au/
