On the 20th and 21st of October we hung the exhibition at the MPRG, about one and a half hours by public transport from Melbourne city centre. The work looks good in the gallery space as you first enter the building and through in another large gallery space. There was a gathering of art teachers and gallery guides on Thursday 22nd, where I gave an introductory talk and walk around the exhibition. At night I played poker with the gallery staff at a local club. As complete novices we did well and ended up still playing on the second last table.
Momentum opened on Saturday 24th, a glorious, sunny afternoon with local wine tasting and speech by Joe Pascoe, Craft Victoria. All comments were very positive and the friends of the gallery are a large and supportive group, however, making sure all the textile groups, students and interested people from further afield get to the exhibition with take some encouragement and spreading the word.
