Community Arts at NFF

Amazing plaited rug - a one year labour of fabric love

Volunteering for 20 hours in Community Arts at the National Folf Festival is my holiday away from home and work. maybe it is a bit of a busman’s holiday – working with art and textiles, but the carefree, non-precious atmosphere is refreshing and restores my sense of making art for pure pleasure. Teaching simple to anyone who walks in from 5 to 95 years old is challenging but very rewarding. Last year we did simple basketry and recycled materials techniques and the project above was started at the festival and brought back to complete this year.
