Fish, nets and migration are subjects/ themes in this work, looking at the fish as a symbol of moving between places and nets as the traps that hamper freedom of movement. In this work I was experimenting with tonal qualities and organic, indigo dyed cotton and white, playing with the ripples and movement of water, the patterns of nets and the relationship between figurative image and suggestion through abstract visual form.

Woven tapestry allows me to combine my interests in textiles and visual art using the tactile qualities of materials in the highly complex woven form. The intricate nature of multiple coloured wefts twined between warps parallels the complexities of life and tapestry’s building /constructed process embodies the advancement of time.
